Imaginative home lighting
design and control
Lighting is all too often an afterthought in the design and build of a new home, with most of the focus given to the bricks and mortar, and even the soft furnishings. Design2Light offers an imaginative solution to your home lighting design requirements.
Working closely with your architect, interior designer and builder, we design sophisticated yet unobtrusive lighting schemes to maximise the visual impact of your home. Should you not have an electrical contractor, we can introduce experienced companies who are capable of providing a complete electrical installation service.
Lighting design involves creating discreet 'layers of light' to show off your home and to highlight favourite contents such as paintings, sculptures, furniture and fabrics via a combination of task, feature and ambient lighting.
Enhanced comfort and security at the touch of a button
Lighting control provides complete flexibility and convenience, allowing the lighting combination to be recalled at pre-defined levels for different lifestyle activities - whether reading, watching television or entertaining - or to effortlessly re-create a desired mood.
In addition, lighting control enables pre-set lights to be automatically activated on arriving home (for example, a welcome 'path of light' from the driveway through the entrance hall to the kitchen); in emergencies (triggered by internal/external intruder alarms or smoke detectors); or to give the impression of occupancy during holidays (by replaying pre-recorded actual lighting usage).
Save power without compromising on performance
With energy efficiency high on everyone's agenda these days, we are able to incorporate low energy fittings such as LED into our home lighting design. Lighting control allows traditional lights to be operated at between 80 to 90% capacity with little noticeable difference in intensity, yet up to 15% reduction in corresponding consumption. Along with the 'soft start' technology built in to the dimmers, this extends their lifespan by up to three times. The savings are significantly higher with lights featuring a 'scene' or 'mood' setting.
Reductions in power are also achieved by timed operation of lights, for example at dusk, or automatic switch on/off based upon movement sensors, time of day, elapsed time or an 'external event' - such as your driveway gates or garage door opening.
